This is my Daddy. He goes by Val, Dad or Papa (depending on who you are). He has always been a fun dad. He is known as "the life of the party". He made sure we always had family home evening and family prayer and scripture study. He loves my mom and has always been a faithful husband to her. He set a good example for us by fulfiling his church callings, (I don't think he has ever missed a month of hometeaching), personally studying his scriptures (always on the "throne"- why not multi-task, right?), and I used to often find him and my mom kneeling beside their bed saying their personal prayers. He held personal "father's interviews" (aka PPI's) on the first sunday of every month with each one of us kids. He would record thses in our journals and help us set and accomplish goals, and made sure we each knew that he loved us. He was always there to give us a priesthood blessing whenever we needed it. Dad has always been an outdoorsman. He taught us survival skills, just like he would teach to his boy scouts. He loves scouting, and made sure both of my brothers recieved their Eagle Scout awards. (And told us girls that he wanted us to marry eagle scouts as well.) :) He took us camping often and once even an overnight hike (with backpacks and the whole nine yards)! He used to get out his old Beatles or Iron Butterfly records, turn up the volume really high, and dance around the house with us while we would just laugh our heads off. That's my Dad! I love my Dad so much and am so grateful for eveything he has done for and taught me. Happy Father's Day Dad! I LOVE YOU!!
My children call him "Papa". Papa is a funny and fun grandpa. The kids sure love him. We are blesssed to live close by, so the kids get to spend time with their grandparents and be part of each other's lives!

My sis-in-law snapped this picture of Rod, Colton and my Dad several years ago on a camping trip. I loved it, so i wrote a poem for it and framed it for a Father's Day gift for Rod and Dad. (Please excuse the miss spelled word in it.) :)
STAY TUNED FOR MY FATHER'S DAY TRIBUTE TO ROD... AND ALIA'S BIRTHDAY POST... LIFE HAS BEEN NUTS AROUND HERE LATELY. :)
